STILL STANDING ..
STILL STANDING ..
“Behind the laughter, the light flickers.”
🖼️ Curatorial text: Curatyy™ - Emotional resonance: 9.7/10
Still Standing captures the paradox of performance — the showman’s smile that hides exhaustion, doubt, and quiet melancholy. Klementsen’s portrait radiates energy, yet beneath the riot of neon lies stillness — a man holding his own mask in place.
The work’s electric palette amplifies this tension: hot purples and oranges pulse like stage lights, while the fixed grin reveals both resilience and fragility. It’s a tribute to every artist who keeps performing when the applause fades — standing tall, but trembling inside.
A portrait not of comedy, but of courage. “The comedian smiles not because he’s happy — but because he must.
‘Still Standing’ is your mirror to that truth — an anthem for every soul who performs through pain and still finds light.”

klemenza´s Thoughts; STILL STANDING ..
No one is as sad as a clown, they say. I've been to quite a few Stand-Up shows lately, and being the extrovert that I am, I've on several occasions struck up a conversation with these often funny people who alone meet a whole room of expectant, laughter-hungry audiences. One Stand-Up guy asked me if I could see that he was actually down during the show. Yes, now that you mention it... I've been to a few shows with this comedian, and he had a different feel this evening. - I could imagine a completely normal job every now and then. Electrician, for example, said, the open Standupper - who sat at a table and talked to me as if we had become old acquaintances. On one and the same show I tell the same jokes, boring to me, and without self-confidence and enthusiasm in this industry, life gets tough sometimes. Reading how many points I get in the newspapers is also tough. It's like the organizers are looking through my body and scanning the smallest part. - I said, "You, take a month or two off the show, before you build the next one, go out and travel, then inspiration. A tired and bored Standup will get a slap sooner or later." He nodded... Must have air under his wings soon, but maybe I'll be "forgotten" when I'm back. The position I have is wonderful when I have the right day! We'll see, I heard that the person traveled to Portugal for a month. Good, I thought. It'll be a good show when he's back - and up and standing strong again!
Keep on Laughing!
