OXYGEN AND INK: I have never set foot on Madeira. But I have been there.
For decades, I’ve held a vivid map of Madeira’s vertical cliffs in my head. It started with stories from my aunt and uncle when I was young. Life led me into a wheelchair and onto political committees instead of southern European shores, but the mind obeys different laws of physics.
Years ago, I served as a clinical subject for a Professor of Hypnosis at the University of Bergen. Through that research, I mastered self-hypnosis. At night, synced with the mechanical rhythm of my CPAP machine, I enter deep trance states. I travel. I explore. I map out terrains using nothing but active consciousness.
This new 1/1 Masterwork, OXYGEN & INK, is the physical manifestation of one of those journeys.
Rendered at an uncompromising native 15,000 x 15,000-pixel grid (600 DPI), I spent thousands of hours manually carving out this landscape from my studio in Bergen, Norway, using my Kensington trackball mouse and 30 years of Photoshop stamina. The heavy, tactile impasto texture looks like oil dried in the sun, capturing the exact golden glare of a coast I’ve only visited in my deepest thoughts.
Ahead of the XVI Florence Biennale 2027, this piece stands as a testament to my hybrid philosophy: technology, human subconscious, and classic digital craftsmanship working in perfect symmetry.

Born from childhood stories told by his aunt and uncle, Morten Klementsen (klemenza) has spent a lifetime dreaming of Madeira’s volcanic cliffs. Though life’s trajectory never led his wheelchair to the physical island, his mind found another way. As a former clinical subject for hypnosis research at the University of Bergen, Klementsen mastered the art of self-hypnosis. Guided by his CPAP respiratory rhythm at night, he descends into deep, hypnotic transits—traveling through space and time within his own consciousness.
