FAMILY CABIN - A Legacy Carved in Timber
This artwork is a tribute to the deep-rooted legacy of family, tradition, and nature. It tells the story of a humble cabin passed down through generations in the Norwegian Sognefjord, where nature’s rhythm echoes within the walls. With a rich palette, dynamic brushstrokes, and a deeply textured, tactile landscape, this piece evokes nostalgia and a sense of timelessness. It's a visual exploration of heritage and the quiet beauty of a family home — a private museum, unbothered by the glossy luxuries of modern life.

MY STORY:

FAMILY CABIN
Some families in Norway are lucky enough to have an ancient cabin with soul. Built by grandparents. This cabin is located on its own at the far end of a headland in the Sognefjord. The cabin is built of solid self-hewn timber, sealed with many layers of linseed oil. It is cozy when it rains in this little cabin, as the roof made of corrugated iron makes quite a lot of noise. Is this something to take care of, some ask, who even have luxury cabins with 100-inch flat-screen TVs. Yes, this is a cabin, a family cabin that has been passed down. It is reuse, family history, museum and coastal culture in the best tradition. The siblings who own and use the cabin must now invest in a small breakwater, so that the old treasure is not flooded. The family who uses the cabin can tell you that others can have cabin cruisers, large campers and modern cabins wherever they want. This is our private museum, and we see our duty and joy in letting it continue as a legacy. Imagine if more people had thought like this wise family? Such a piece of jewelry cannot be bought for money. There is little space, but where there is room for the heart, there is room for the house. An old rowboat lies at the dock at the back of. Traditions are not built in a week or two.
